Handmade in South Africa
One pair of hands, one machine, your colours.
Horsin' About is a small workshop making custom equine apparel — numnahs, fly masks, bareback pads and blankets — cut and stitched to order.
How it started
It started the way most yard businesses do: a horse with an awkward back, a numnah that didn't fit, and a sewing machine on the kitchen table. Word went round the yard, then the next yard, and the kitchen table became a workshop.
Everything still comes off one machine. Nothing is imported, rebranded or drop-shipped — if you're holding it, it was cut here.
How we work
Fabric is chosen for South African conditions: heat, dust, sweat and a wash box that shows no mercy. Quilting is done in-house, stress points are double-stitched, and binding is picked from your yard colours so your kit comes back to you and not to someone else.
Ready-to-ship pieces are already made up and go out the next Monday. Made-to-order takes about three weeks, because that's honestly how long it takes to do properly.
The Friday rule
The workshop is closed on Fridays. That's yard day — horses first. No collections, no dispatch, no courier handovers.
